Rihanna and Chris Brown Preparing to Announce They Are 'Back Together'?

Rihanna and Chris Brown have reportedly been secretly dating and the pair are said to be preparing to make a public announcement that they have reconciled, it has been revealed.

The Grammy award-winning artists have been "seeing a lot of each other in private" despite Brown's current involvement with model Karrueche Tran, but are reportedly apprehensive about publicizing their rekindled romance due to fear of backlash, according to The New York Post.

"Everyone in the business assumes [Rihanna] and Chris are getting back together, and it is only a matter of time before they'll be more public about it," a source told the Post.

"It's like she is testing the water -- first they work on music together, then they hang out in a friendly way, so the public won't be completely shocked when they step out together publicly," the insider added.

The pair split in 2009 following a domestic violence incident which left Rihanna, 24, battered and bruised and which consequently saw Brown convicted of assault.

They reportedly met recently to watch the Miami Heat defeat the Boston Celtics at Jay-Z's 40/40 club on Saturday, where Rihanna's cousins and grandfather also hung out with Brown.

"Rihanna arrived first in a yellow cab, with her family and friends, and was escorted to a private room. Brown arrived a little later and joined her and her family. They sat on the same couch together rooting for the Heat. There was no sign of his girlfriend," the source revealed.

Rihanna's representatives are said to be scrambling ideas on how to best tackle a public announcement about the pair getting back together with the least amount of backlash.

"Everyone agrees they can't control Rihanna and can't stop her seeing Chris, no matter how much they fear the negative public reaction will be," the source said. "It means [Rihanna] probably won't release another album this year, for fear of a backlash."

The Bajan singer recently hinted at a reconciliation with Brown during an interview with Esquire UK's June edition.

"If I went back to [Chris as a girlfriend], then that's a whole different discussion. And if I ever do, then that's something that y'all have to talk to me about when – if – that ever happens," Rihanna said in response to speculation that the pair are back together.
