Rihanna, Chris Brown Mourn Her Grandmother's Passing

Rihanna and Chris Brown spent the weekend mourning the loss of the Bajan singer's Grandmother Clara "Dolly" Brathwaite, who passed away on Saturday after losing her battle with cancer.

For months, Rihanna, 24, posted heart wrenching photographs on Twitter of her beloved grandmother who appeared frail and evidently ill whilst receiving medical treatment at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City. The singer tweeted her final goodbye message shortly after Dolly's passing.

"Goodbye #grangranDOLLY get your beauty rest until I see you," Rihanna tweeted while posting personal photos of herself with Dolly.

"My heart smiled and cried all at once #grangranDolly," another one of the singer's emotional tweets read.

Brown, who some critics suspect has begun dating Rihanna again, also took to Twitter where he remembered Dolly.

"Praying for family and the lost loved one. She was like my grandmother. Love you GRAN GRAN! RIP," Brown tweeted.

The Grammy award-winning artists have reportedly been "seeing a lot of each other in private" recently, despite Brown's current involvement with model Karrueche Tran, according to The New York Post.

They are said to be apprehensive about publicizing their rekindled romance due to the fear of possible backlash.

"Everyone in the business assumes [Rihanna] and Chris are getting back together, and it is only a matter of time before they'll be more public about it," a source told The Post.

"It's like she is testing the water – first they work on music together, then they hang out in a friendly way, so the public won't be completely shocked when they step out together publicly," the insider added.

Despite their tragic loss over the weekend, both singers attended separate events after news of Dolly's death broke. Their grieving states, however, were evident.

Rihanna took to the stage at The Peace and Love Festival in Sweden just hours after Dolly's passing. The "We Found Love" singer was understandably late and reportedly under the influence, forcing some concertgoers to leave during her performance, which some critics blasted as being awful.

Brown attended the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards ceremony on Sunday night where he won the Best Male R&B Artist award as well as the Fandemonium Award.

The "Turn Up The Music" singer covered his eyes with dark shades, which some critics suspect may have been due to possible weeping over Dolly's death. Brown thanked "Team Breezy" during his acceptance speech, which was kept short, and his somber mood was evident throughout the night.
