Ryan Gosling Saves Tourist From Getting Hit by NYC Cab

Actor Ryan Gosling has again played the part of real-life hero, according to one report. Gosling saved a tourist from being hit by a cab in New York City.

"I literally, LITERALLY just got saved from a car by Ryan Gosling," British writer Laurie Penny wrote on Twitter. "That actually just happened. I was crossing 6th avenue in a new pink wig. Not looking the right way because I am from London. Ryan Gosling grabbed me away from a taxi," Penny tweeted.

The incident took place yesterday evening, but Gosling's representative has not verified Penny's account. It would be nothing new for Gosling, though, who broke up a fight in the city in August.

"He took [the men fighting] to the corner and asked them what was going on," a witness who filmed the event told E! news. "The gentleman was like 'He stole my painting.' So [Gosling] gave the guy a $20 and asked if it was settled. He took the money out of his pocket and said, 'If that's what you're fighting for, here you go.'"

Penny has written about her experience for Gawker, and says that she doesn't see why everyone is making a fuss.

"I'm grateful to the dashing and meme-worthy Mr. Gosling, just as I am grateful to every kind New Yorker who has saved me from oncoming traffic in recent weeks, good citizens making the streets of this fine city that much safer."

"Americans are very strange. They can and do hyperventilate about the most everyday happenings as if they are the most important thing in the world," she continued. "The real heroes I've met in America are risking everything to make sure that the United States doesn't slide further into bigotry, inequality and violence whilst everyone is distracted by the everyday doings of celebrities."

Yet what makes Penny angry is "being framed as the ditzy damsel in distress." She was the one, however, who brought attention to the scenario, using her own Twitter account to let the world know a celebrity had saved her life.
