Ryan Lochte Girlfriend 2012: Olympic Gold Medalist Defensive After Mom's 'One Night Stand' Comments

Ryan Lochte has continued to try and explain his mother's comments that he does not have time for girlfriends and so only does "one night stands" instead.

The faux-pas by Ileane "Ike" Lochte has caused a storm of comments on social media sites and blogs. However, now Ryan has come out on damage control trying to explain his mother was not entirely media savvy and did not fully understand what most might take understand through her "one night stands" comments.

Lochte told Us Weekly on Friday: "She meant since the last four years I just wanted to focus on swimming, and I didn't really have time for a relationship."

Mommy Lochte caused the stir when she said on July 31 about her son, "He goes out on one-night stands. He's not able to give fully to a relationship because he's always on the go."

However, having realized how people were taking her words, Mrs. Lochte told Ryan Seacrest the next day, "All I wanted to say is that he's so sensitive about not wanting to hurt a girl dating, so he just goes and dates and takes out a girl for maybe one or two dates and doesn't have a relationship because he doesn't have [time] and it's not fair to the women."

Meanwhile octogenarian sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer has taken to Twitter and YouTube to comment on Ike Lochte's comments. Her video, also posted on Friday, explains that the doctor was upset that Ike had told the world that her son "goes out on one-night stands."

In the video the 84 year old therapist barked, "To that mother I would like to say keep your mouth shut and don't talk about the sex life of your son. Our children's sex life is not our business."

She also added on Twitter: "Mom as wingman? Really? Doesn't she want to find him a girlfriend?"

Dr. Ruth also tweeted, "Seems to me your mom shouldn't be discussing your sex life on nat'l TV."

The discussion about his sex life and girlfriend status has driven Ryan Lochte to himself now come out and say, "My mom is really new to all of this and the media," according to Us Weekly.

"I've never done that and never have been like that, so I don't want people to think that about me," he told Us Weekly.

Despite the current furor surrounding his private life, when the dust settles he is sure to be remembered as the American Olympian who won two gold, two silver and a bronze medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
