Samsung Galaxy Nexus Release Date: Impatience Grows for New Smartphone (VIDEO)

Customers for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone have been brimming with anticipation for the release of the phone in the U.S. for some time, and many have been able to live with the unselfish consolation that at least our cousins across the pond in the United Kingdom would have the privilege of owning the item soon.

Still, with pauses and rescheduling of unveiling dates, it appears they too will have to deal with the same feelings of impatience.

The timely launch of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the United Kingdom, where the phone was supposed to hit retailers Thursday, seems less and less likely, more carriers have declared that they will also offer the device, however, not in the immediate future.

The United Kingdom variant of the Galaxy Nexus was originally scheduled to release on Nov. 17, while the Canadian variants are expected to be released between early December and January.

Now, the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy Nexus United Kingdom launch is only one day away. But experts are ringing the alarm, as only one carrier in the country is reportedly actually ready to meet that deadline. Only O2 is prepared to stock the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered device tomorrow, The Inquirer reports.

Three U.K. carriers, one of the major mobile networks in Britain, tweeted Tuesday: "If you order online, delivery 22nd. Retail should have stock on the 18th but we cannot 100% confirm this yet."

Online retailer, Clove, has reportedly confirmed that its SIM-free stock of the phone is delayed until Nov. 23.

Samsung has also reportedly warned customers of a delay to stock saying, "For anyone who pre-ordered Galaxy Nexus y'day, due to stock delays your delivery has changed to 22/11. We'll call you by 8pm with more info."

The company added that it is expecting stock on the 18th in retail but cannot "100% confirm yet."

Meanwhile, TELUS, a Canadian wireless carrier, announced recently that it will offer the device in Jan. 2012.

Previously, another Canadian company, Rogers, said it will offer the smartphone in the same month.

"We'll be adding the #Samsung Galaxy Nexus to our lineup this January! Reserve yours on our Reservation System tomorrow," Rogers tweeted Monday.

Bell and Virgin networks also made the pledge Monday.

The Galaxy Nexus is not an American made phone, so international releases before a U.S. release is commonplace.
