Samsung Galaxy S3 Receives Android 4.1, JellyBean ROM

Samsung Galaxy S3 users will be able to get their first taste of Android 4.1, JellyBean before the official update is issued as the CyanogenMod 10 ROM is now compatible with the smartphone.

This is an early build of the Android 4.1 based CM10, so it will not come without its fair share of bugs.

Once CM10 is installed, some features on the device may not work properly, and others may not work at all.

YouMobile.org reported that the FM Radio does not work with CM10, and there is unstable camera and Wi-Fi tethering. There is also no Bluetooth audio and a chance that the first call made with the update installed will not go through.

In order to install CM10 on the Samsung Galaxy S3, owners of the device must download the needed files from the link posted here.

A similar Android 4.1, JellyBean ROM was issued for the Samsung Galaxy S2 earlier this week.

Other JB ROMS for devices such as the Samsung Google Nexus S, and Galaxy S I9000 are also now available.

The Galaxy S I9000 did not receive Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich due to hardware performance issues while running ICS and TouchWiz UI together.

But apparently it can handle this new JB ROM created by developers, according to YouMobile.

The site reported that the ROM performs almost flawlessly, but features a few minor bugs. All of the hardware on the device seems to be supported, with the only limitations being that users are unable to mount their external SD card when the device is connected to a PC. Google Now is also working, but with some delays.

This ROM will void the warranty on the device and can be downloaded here.
