Selena Gomez and 'Explicit' Cosmopolitan Cover Outrages Fans

Selena Gomez's Cosmopolitan magazine cover has sparked questions over whether or not the former Disney star looks too sexually explicit.

The 19-year-old dons a tight two-piece dress revealing cleavage as well as her midriff on the March issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.

In addition, the magazine cover boasts headlines such as "50 Sex Tips," and many people are criticizing Gomez for setting a poor image for her younger fans.

Parents groups say that young teens reading the magazine are exposed to casual sex through the articles which glamorize promiscuity. Gomez, who has a large teen following, may be encouraging readers even more by appearing on the cover scantily clad.

Many young stars such as Miley Cyrus have trouble making the transition into adult roles after their careers on Disney have ended. In a recent report by Perez Hilton, Gomez is "not in Waverly place anymore." The actress will appear in the upcoming film "Spring Breakers," which Gomez described as "edgy."

Also in the past interview with E! News, Gomez said her character in the film is "the little more tamed down character but also gets a little crazy here and there."

"She goes down on spring break with her girlfriends and they end up getting into a whole mess of things. They're partying and drinking. We end up in jail," said Gomez of her new role.

Gomez begins filming the Harmony Korine-directed film in about three weeks after wrapping up her world tour in South America. She said a part of her plan is to take a break from music to work on her career as an actor.

"I'm nervous," added the star of the upcoming film. "It's a little edgy, but it's fun. I fought for the role."

"Spring Breakers" is scheduled for release in 2013 and will also star Emma Roberts, James Franco, and Vanessa Hudgens.
