Selena Gomez's Mother Suffers Miscarriage, Singer Cancels Shows

Selena Gomez has cancelled two Christmas performances after learning that her mother suffered a miscarriage.

The 19-year-old was scheduled to perform at the B96 Jingle Bash in Chicago Saturday and also the 106.1 KISS FM Jingle Bell Bash in Seattle Sunday, but pulled the plug at the last minute.

A representative for Gomez confirmed that the singer is fine, and was unable to fulfill her performance commitments due to a “family emergency,” according to E! network's Marc Malkin.

Gomez's mother Mandy suffered a miscarriage on Friday and the singer is understandably devastated.

Fans were left reeling with excitement last month after Gomez tweeted her mother's pregnancy news.

"Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news… My mommy's carrying my baby brother or sister :) I'm the happiest girl in the world!" Gomez tweeted.

It is unclear how far along Mandy was in her pregnancy, although reports suggest she may have been in the early stages.

Gomez was recently photographed with boyfriend Justin Bieber attending a friend's wedding in Mexico. The Disney star was a bridesmaid and the couple appeared to be very affectionate, constantly hugging and kissing one another.

Gomez is still set to perform during MTV's live New Year's Eve special, although it is unclear whether she will follow through.
