Voice of the Martyrs leader found dead from suicide – April 18, 2012

This week marks the anniversary of when Tom White, executive director of Voice of the Martyrs, was found dead from what an investigation concluded was suicide.
White had gone missing on the evening of April 17, shortly after it was reported that police in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, were investigating an allegation that he had molested a juvenile girl.
The following morning, White’s body was discovered in a warehouse located at the VOM headquarters, reported the Tulsa-based News On 6 at the time.
In response to the news, VOM issued a statement explaining that no one in leadership at the persecution watchdog ministry was “aware of these allegations at the time of Tom’s death.”
“There is no doubt that Tom cared about his wife, his children and his grandchildren. And there’s no doubt that he cared about VOM. We are deeply saddened by these events. Our hearts are broken,” stated VOM.
“We appreciate the many who are praying for our work, and we encourage you to join us in praying for Tom’s family during this difficult time, as well as the family of the alleged victim.”
