Tiger Woods' Ex-Caddie Williams to Write Chapter on Former Boss

After being fired by Tiger Woods earlier this week, ex-caddie Steve Williams is determined not to end the 12-year relationship so soon, at least not without some parting words.

Telling his hometown TV station in New Zealand that he plans to write a tell-all book about his career, Williams shared news that there would be an “interesting” chapter specifically on his scandal-clad former boss.

Since there was no confidentiality clause in his contract with Woods, there would be no reason for him not to write about their relationship, he stated.

“It will just be one of those interesting chapters in the book,” Williams told the station, according to USA Today. “You learn a lot from reading [biographies.] I’m a big reader of those. Mine won’t be any different.”

The pair, who began their relationship in 1999, has been known for their close camaraderie throughout their employment. Williams aggressively defended Woods on the greens, took part in each other’s weddings – though both are divorced now – and spent time together on and off the course.

Williams also stuck by Woods’ side during his infidelity eruptions in 2009, which kept him off the field and out of several major tournaments.

Regardless of the long-time service, Woods announced on his website that it was “time for a change.”

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Stevie for all his help, but I think it’s time for a change. Stevie is an outstanding caddie and a friend and has been instrumental in many of my accomplishments. I wish him great success in the future.”

Williams expressed his shock and disappointment in regards to the termination and shared with TVNZ, “I’m not disappointed in the fact that I got fired, I’m just disappointed in the timing of it, given how loyal I’ve been to him. That obviously didn’t mean much to him.”

“I’m a stickler for loyalty, I stuck with Tiger through a difficult period when a lot of people thought I should have left his side when things weren’t going as they should have been going.”

Though he lost respect for the golfer after he learned of his multiple infidelities, he thought it would be earned back through time and effort.

He was planning for another successful partnership with Woods, already having been a part of 13 major championships. And with new coach, Sean Foley, in the lineup and a major change in swing, Williams was excited for a new start.

But the sudden turnaround left him feeling betrayed and hurt. “I was prepared to hang in there through thick and thin,” he revealed to the New Zealand Herald. “Whatever respect he may have earned back, he’s just lost.”

Despite the loss, Williams is prepared to start again with Australian golfer Adam Scott, whom he has been recently working with part-time due to Woods’ previous leg injury.

“I’m excited about it, the last few weeks carrying with Adam has kind of opened my eyes a little bit,” he told TVNZ.

Williams’ book is not planned for release until after his caddie career is over. What new insight on Woods his chapter will reveal only time will tell.
