Tim Tebow Receives More Flack From Jimmy Fallon After Jets Trade

Jimmy Fallon, comedian and late-night talk show host, has once again given attention to NFL quarterback Tim Tebow after the Christian athlete's high-profile trade to the New York Jets.

Most recently, Fallon appeared on his show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to thank 24-year-old Tebow for joining the Jets.

"Thank you Tim Tebow for volunteering to spend your Sundays helping the needy and less fortunate," Fallon said during the show.

However, this is not Fallon's first time mentioning Tebow during one of his comedic efforts. The comedian created a character named Tebowie during the NFC playoffs last season, mixing likenesses of Tebow and singer David Bowie.

In a remake of Bowie's "Space Oddity" song, Fallon's "Tebowie" sang a rendition about Tebow and Jesus Christ speaking about the quarterback's shortcomings against the New England Patriots and their Christian QB, Tom Brady.

"This is Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow, please leave me alone. Don't you know my day of rest is Sunday," Fallon sang, pretending to be Tebow's savior last season. "And I'm sick of watching all these Broncos Games. I hear that you play New England next week. Dude you're on your own, Brady is too good and I've got better things to do!"

Although Tebow has switched teams since being defeated by Tom Brady and the Patriots last season, Fallon has not eased up on his Tebowie impressions. After the announcement about Tebow's new beginning with the Jets took place, Fallon created a new song to poke fun at the Christian quarterback.

"He threw it left-hand/but his aim was bad/he lost to New England/Guess God's a Brady fan," Fallon sang about Tebow's loss to Brady last season. "Tebow prayed to God begging him to smite the Mannings and find him a job, just not on the lions. Now his career is dead/but Tebow will rise again."

When Tebow met with Fallon last February at the close of his NFL season with the Broncos, the pair addressed the QB's thoughts about the Tebowie character. Although Fallon told the Jets' newest QB that he imitated him out of due respect and offered him the Tebowie wardrobe, Tebow told the late night host that there he had some work to do with the character.

"It's pretty good. The only thing that was kinda messed up about it is that you were a little off tune and a little pitchy," Tebow joked. "But the rest was great."

In the Fallon interview last February, Tebow also spoke about all of the people who had imitated him.

"I'm not sure, but I gotta believe I'm not the first athlete to get on a knee and pray. Also on the other hand, the greatest form of flattery is imitating somebody," Tebow said. "So that's pretty cool that people would do that."
