Tooth & Nail Records Movie: 'No New Kinda Story' Shows Rise of Christian Label
Perhaps one of the most influential Christian record labels, Tooth & Nail, is working on a documentary that touches upon their 20 year history as a small independent to the well known company it is today.
Tooth & Nail Records saw itself become the most controversial label in the '90s. Brandon Ebel, son of a pastor from a small town in Oregon, was inspired to start something special after attending a number of hardcore rock shows in the Seattle area.
Taking out a loan from his grandfather, and with barely any money and practically no industry experience, he began "one of the most influential independent labels in the last 20 years."

Living off of $5 a day, Ebel faced constant failure and was on the grips of losing everything. However, it was his determination and unwillingness to give up that saw the indie label grow from a handful of local bands to a record label that has put out over 20,000,000 records while giving the world world famous bands such as: MxPx, Underoath, August Burns Red, and Anberlin.
"No New Kinda Story is a no-holds-barred, behind the scene look at the rise, fall, and rebirth of the iconic label," a press release said.
"The humble beginnings of Tooth & Nail can be traced back to the early '90s punk and hardcore music scene. Label founder Brandon Ebel became immersed in the network of musicians, clubs, fanzines and promoters who were making waves with bands whose positive messages (whether translated through melodic punk or heavy rock) and creative, inspired music compelled Ebel to get more closely involved himself," the site reads.
The label's current roster includes: The Almost, Anberlin, Family Force 5, Love and Death, MxPx, and Underoath, among others.
Former bands that got their start on Tooth & Nail or were involved in some way include: Emery, Dead Poetic, FM Static, Further Seems Forever, Hawk Nelson, P.O.D., Project 86, Spoken, and Thousand Foot Krutch among others.
