Tornado Warnings Issued: Storms Expected to Hit Hard

While certain parts of the nation struggle to clean up and rebuild after 27 confirmed tornadoes ripped through the heartland, others are being warned about a new outbreak of storms that could cause significant damage.

Alabama is already under a tornado emergency after one tornado has touched down, causing massive destruction. The Weather Channel is reporting that "a very serious forecast has been issued for parts of the Ohio Valley and Southeast with likely long track tornadoes and damaging winds in Tennessee and Kentucky."

Reports of at least one tornado on the ground in Tenn. have already been given; Alabama is reporting two tornadoes on the ground. These storms are expected to last throughout the day and even into the night, which makes them all the more dangerous.

Tuesday night's tornadoes left at least 13 dead across Kan., Miss., Ill, and Tenn. A state of emergency has been declared in Missouri, where Branson took the brunt of the storm. Harrisville, Ill. was hit the hardest of all the storms; six people were killed in that city alone.

President Barack Obama has called the governors of all the states affected and offered his "condolences and assistance as necessary." At least one of the storms was rated an EF4, which is the second-highest rating of tornado strength.
