Transformers 3 Tops Weekend Box Office, No.1 Earner of 2011 So Far

“Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon” remained at the top of the box office this weekend once again. Transformers 3 raked in $47 million for a total of $261 million, making it the highest grossing film of 2011 so far.

The film, starring Shia Labeouf, has proved that big morphing robots, “moon-tastic” scenes, and lots of special effects are enough to draw massive crowds despite a lackluster plot.

The movie, closing in on its second week, is one out of only four others that have surpassed the $200 million grossing mark for what has been a slow 2011 for Hollywood.
