Trump's week in review: Dem funding platform probed; anti-Christian bias task force meets

2. Vance meets with Pope Francis before his death
During an overseas trip that included stops in Italy and India, Vice President J.D. Vance met with Pope Francis on Easter Sunday. The meeting between the Catholic Church leader and the vice president, a convert to Catholicism, came within 24 hours of the pontiff's death at the age of 88.
The brief meeting consisted of Francis presenting Vance with Easter eggs for each of his three children. Vance reflected on his meeting with the pontiff as he issued a statement reacting to his death.
"I was very happy to see him yesterday, though he was obviously very ill," Vance wrote in an X post. Stressing that his "heart goes out" to the millions of Christians worldwide who loved Pope Francis, Vance shared a link to his favorite homily delivered by the late pontiff before stating, "May God rest his soul."
