5. Trump administration restores family planning funds to pro-life states

The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America published a statement Wednesday reacting to news that the Trump administration had restored Title X family planning funds to Oklahoma and Tennessee after the Biden administration had withheld the funds from the states because they refused to provide referrals for abortion.

"The Biden administration punished pro-life states for implementing policies that acknowledge abortion is not family planning. The last administration not only weaponized the federal government by withholding Title X family planning funding to punish pro-life states but also funneled billions of dollars to their political backers at Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business, which takes the lives of nearly 400,000 babies a year," said Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

Dannenfelser expressed gratitude that "President Trump is righting this backwards policy."

Last month, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services signaled its intention to review $27 million in Title X family planning funds awarded to the nation's abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.

The Trump administration defended the move as part of its effort at "safeguarding the American taxpayer's hard-earned dollars by ending the senseless taxpayer funding of DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion] programs and initiatives, including grants to institutions in blatant violation of federal law."
