Week in review: Migrant 'gravy train' halted; parental rights probes launched; MS-13 leader captured

1. HUD, DHS seek to stop illegal immigrants from accessing public housing programs
In a statement Monday, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced its partnership with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to ensure that illegal immigrants do not use taxpayer-funded housing programs.
A memorandum of understanding highlighting the terms of the partnership details how the two departments will "establish a point of contact between our respective agencies to facilitate and coordinate our efforts to put Americans first."
"We commit to ending the wasteful misappropriation of taxpayer dollars to benefit illegal aliens instead of assisting American citizens, especially veterans, in need," the memorandum stated. "We will safeguard precious taxpayer resources, and we will stop the harmful practices of the former Biden Administration, which favored and prioritized illegal aliens over American citizens in the expenditure of housing funds and subsidies."
HUD Secretary Scott Turner, who is also a Texas megachurch pastor, argues that tax dollars "should be used for the benefit of American citizens, especially when it comes to an issue as pressing as our nation's housing crisis."
"This new agreement will leverage resources including technology and personnel to ensure American people are the only priority when it comes to public housing," he said. "We will continue to work closely with DHS to maximize our resources and put American citizens first."
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the agencies will work together to "identify abuse and exploitation of public benefits" and "make sure those in this country illegally are not receiving federal benefits or other financial incentives to stay illegally."
"If you are an illegal immigrant, you should leave now," she warned. "The gravy train is over."
