Trump's week in review: Israel attacks Iran; National Guard deployed; senator removed by Secret Service

1. Trump deploys National Guard, Marines to quell protests in California
As protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Los Angeles, California, last weekend resulted in assaults on police officers, the looting of businesses, the smashing of windows, and the burning of American flags, Trump deployed 2,100 California National Guard troops to get the situation under control while the Pentagon mobilized 700 active-duty Marines.
On Monday night, as protesters set off fireworks and threw water at police while law enforcement tried to use rubber bullets and stun grenades to disperse the rioters, Trump mobilized an additional 2,000 National Guard troops to the scene.
Trump defended his decision in a Tuesday post on Truth Social as he blasted the Democratic leadership of Los Angeles and California.
"If I didn't 'SEND IN THE TROOPS' to Los Angeles the last three nights, that once beautiful and great City would be burning to the ground right now, much like 25,000 houses burned to the ground in L.A. do [sic] to an incompetent Governor and Mayor," Trump wrote, referring to the wildfires that ravaged the state and city earlier this year.
Trump's deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles was met with a legal challenge from California's Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.
On Thursday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit granted the Trump administration's request for a stay of a district court decision issued earlier in the day blocking Trump from deploying California National Guard members to Los Angeles. The president expressed gratitude for the decision in a post on Truth Social Friday morning, declaring, "We saved L.A."
