Whitney Houston Auction Held in Los Angeles

Memorabilia from the late Whitney Houston was auctioned off over the weekend in Beverly Hills and reportedly brought in over $80,000.

The auction house, Julien's Auctions, also included other famous entertainer's memorabilia such as Charlie Chaplin's famous bowler hat and bamboo cane as well as a coat worn by Clark Gable in "Gone With the Wind."

There were five dresses and three ensembles from Houston's wardrobe that were first sold in a 2007 auction ordered by a judge to settle a storage debt Houston owed to a New Jersey storage company.

A bustier embellished with elaborate beading, rhinestones and pearls sold for $19,200 in Saturday's bidding, according to the auction website.

Houston wore it onstage during concerts, but the singer lost it in the storage auction, according to Julien's.

There was also a grey velvet gown Houston wore when she attended Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy Party in 1996 which sold for $11,520.

Houston drowned in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton just hours before she was to attend this year's Clive Davis party in the same hotel.

There were also two sets of earrings as well as a vest which Houston wore during her 1992 movie "The Bodyguard" which sold for $8,500, the auction house said.

Even though the focus on the auction was about Houston, her items did not bring in the most money.

The coat worn by Clark Gable when he played Rhett Butler in the 1939 classic "Gone With The Wind" was sold to a diehard fan for $57,600. The auction house explained the black and white wool herringbone jacket included a hand-inscribed tag that read "Clark Gable" and "5-9-39."

Another high priced item of the auction was the black felt bowler that Charlie Chaplin wore when he made his "Little Tramp" film. The character's hat brought in $56,700.

There was also Chaplin's metal-tipped bamboo cane, another iconic symbol of the "Little Tramp" that sold for $41,600. The cane was valued pre-auction at around $20,000.
