Kim Kardashian Worried About Psoriasis Slowing her Career

Kim Kardashian has announced that she has an auto-immune disease and fears it may interfere with her career.

On Sunday’s episode of E! network’s 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians', a red, flaky skin rash caused Kim to seek medical attention. At her visit, the reality television star was diagnosed with Psoriasis.

Kardashian’s reaction was one of disbelief when she realized how the condition may affect her profession.

"My career is doing ad campaigns and swimsuit photo shoots," Kim said after learning about her new condition. "People don't understand the pressure on me to look perfect. When I gain a pound, it's in the headlines. Imagine what the tabloids would do to me if they saw all these spots."

Kardashian was diagnosed with guttate, a less common form of psoriasis that can flare with stress. Although the condition is incurable, Kardashian was told that her symptoms may subside if she avoided stressful situations in life.

However, Kim told her doctor that it would be impossible to slow her lifestyle down.

“I think one of the ways you can help yourself is live an easier slower paced life,” the doctor told Kim.

“That’s just not possible,” she responded.

Kim also expressed her concern about an upcoming business opportunity that might be affected by her condition.

“I have to wear a sports bra and I have this rash all over my stomach,” she said about an upcoming campaign that she had to attend. “What will the producers say? In a photo shoot they can just Photoshop it out, but this is on video. They can’t hide this.”

Psoriasis is a genetic condition. Kris, Kim’s mother who also appears on the reality show, has been battling with the condition for over 20 years, according to Kardashian in the latest episode. The disease affects 7.5 million Americans, according to the National Psoriasis Foundation.
