Beyoncé Challenger Audio Upsets Astronauts' Loved Ones; Singer Then Posts Picture of Herself in Jesus' Place in 'The Last Supper'

Beyoncé is in hot water with fans and the public after two back-to-back incidents involving her latest album and Instagram account. In one, the singer used audio from the fatal Challenger explosion in a song, and in the other incident, Beyoncé put herself in the middle of a photo of the Last Supper, imposing herself where Jesus Christ should have been.

The trouble began when people realized that audio from the 1986 Challenger disaster, in which all seven crewmembers aboard the space shuttle, were killed soon after takeoff. The audio is used in the song "XO," which is on the singer's latest album. She issued an apology to the families of those lost and to her fans as well.

"My heart goes out to the families of those lost in the Challenger disaster," Beyonce told ABC News. "The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you. The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten."

Yet that apology was not enough for Challenger family members, who are upset that the audio is now being heard in a pop song and rehashing old wounds.

"We were disappointed to learn that an audio clip from the day we lost our heroic Challenger crew was used in the song 'XO,'" June Scobee Rodgers, widow of Challenger Commander Dick Scobee told ABC. "The moment included in this son is an emotionally difficult one for the Challenger families, colleagues, and friends. We have always chosen to focus not on how our loved ones were lost, but rather on how they lived and how their legacy lives on today."

In another incident, Beyoncé is receiving flack for posting an image of herself super-imposed on a photo of the DaVinci painting known as The Last Supper. In the photo, posted to her Instagram, the superstar is wearing a bustier and mini-skirt and sitting in front of the place where Jesus Christ is normally seen.

"She's over being Queen Bey! I think she goin' for Beysus!!! #notcool" one user posted to Instagram in response to the photo.

"I'm agnostic but respect religions and those who have faith," another user posted. "I can see why posing in front of a replica of 'The Last Supper,' using her image to block out Jesus could offend. No matter whether she is or isn't religious herself, this controversial move is disrespectful to many."
