Dancing With the Stars: Will Kim Kardashian Divorce Thwart Rob Kardashian on DWTS?

Kim Kardashian has officially filed for a divorce on the same day that her brother Rob is scheduled to perform on Dancing with the Stars.

The divorce comes after just 72 days since her marriage to Kris Humphries, and comes after weeks of rumors of divorce in the media.

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is hosting a two-hour Halloween special on the show Monday night, where Rob Kardashian and fellow contestants continue to compete for the mirror ball trophy.

Just last week, Kardashian told DWTS viewers that his sister was happily married and that rumors of divorce were unfair, and unfounded. One week after his denial, Kim released a statement.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage,” said Kardashian. “I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

Fans have been shocked by the short-lived marriage, which is short even compared to the host of celebrity marriages that fail every year.

Fans of Rob and DWTS have rebuked Rob’s denials just last week about his sister’s marriage.

“Maybe Rob on #DWTS should have talked to Kim before straight denying her divorce on TV last week,” wrote Twitter user Christine.

Kardashian and his dancing partner Cheryl Burke remain strong contenders on the show and are considered the most popular couple on Twitter.

Tonight’s show will see performances by leading scorers such as Ricki Lake and J.R. Martinez. Based on tonight’s scores, one couple will face the sixth elimination on Tuesday.

DWTS co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet took to Twitter about the Halloween special edition of the show.

“Happy Halloween!” Burke-Charvet wrote. “Gonna be a gooly (sic), spooky show 2night, #DWTS.”

The Halloween Performance Show airs on ABC tonight at 8:30 p.m. EST.
