Eva Longoria 'Very Lucky' for Eduardo Cruz

Eva Longoria has said she is thankful for meeting her partner Eduardo Cruz after splitting from her ex-husband one year ago.

Longoria married Tony Parker in 2007, and after reportedly discovering his infidelity via text message, filed for a divorce in 2010. The “Desperate Housewives” actress was married once before to “General Hospital” star Tyler Christopher from 2002 to 2004.

“The truth is, I should be angry, resentful, and disillusioned about relationships. But I’m not,” said Longoria speaking to Vanity Fair magazine. “I was very lucky to find Edu,” said the actress of Eduardo Cruz, the younger brother of actress Penelope Cruz.

The 36-year-old actress went on to explain that her divorce from the NBA star Parker did not change her belief in love.

“There’s a reason I fell in love and got married. I believed in it,” she said. “Love did not work with that person. But it can work with another.”

Longoria added that if she were to become engaged again, that she would not want to waste time and marry quickly.

“I never believe in long engagements. People think engagement is another step,” said the actress. “It’s not another step. You’re single and then you’re married.”

The Texas native continued, “The engagement is the planning party. So I always agree with short engagements. So many guys are getting married to buy time, ‘Maybe this will buy me more time.’ But if I’m the bride, I’m like, ‘Oh no, alright let’s get going.’”

During her divorce from Parker, Longoria received overwhelming support from fans. Previously while appearing on “Piers Morgan Tonight,” Longoria told Morgan, “So many people want me to hate him and destroy him,” of her ex-husband. “But I don’t want to. I want him to be happy. He’s not a bad person.”

She confessed that her divorce was “heartbreaking,” but said, “I do not regret getting married nor do I regret getting divorced.”

Longoria currently appears on the eighth and final season of ABC’s “Desperate Housewives.”
