The reality show mom discussed the idea of overpopulation in a recent interview on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club" program.

"First off, the idea of overpopulation is not accurate because, really, the entire population of the world, if they stood shoulder to shoulder, could fit in the city limits of Jacksonville," Duggar told CBN. "We've had other counties coming to our doorstep, asking us to please let their people know that they need to have more children. They are seeing that their death rates are outnumbering their birth rates and they're in crisis."

"We are so deceived when we believe that, that's not true, it's a lie. I agree with Mother Teresa when she says, to say that there are too many kids is like saying there are too many flowers," she added.

When asked about the environmental footprint of her own large family, Duggar was clear to point out that her family is resourceful. She told the CBN that the family of 21 opts to buy used goods including cars and clothing in an effort to reduce waste. Duggar also shared that she and husband Jim Bob find it important to teach their children to be "helpful and servers" and "givers instead of takers" in the world.

"Our world needs more joy and more purpose and the next generation to be encouraged by those that are going to make a difference for good in the world."

Beyond discussing her beliefs on global population, Duggar has also made headlines recently for her candid support for conservative Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum.

"He is the true conservative in the race," Duggar recently told The Daily Beast. "Rick Santorum has the family values that we hold dear in our hearts."
