Rider Strong - 'No Official Involvement' With New Series 'Girl Meets World'
After the confirmation of "Girl Meets World," the spin-off to popular series "Boy Meets World," questions began to circulate about who would star in the show. While fans already know that Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will return, Rider Strong has finally released a statement about his involvement- or lack thereof.
"At this point, I have no official involvement. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW ['Boy Meets World'] cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But 'Girl Meets World' will be, and I think it should be, it's own show," Strong said in a statement.
Strong played Savage's best friend throughout the "BMW" series and was the heartthrob for teen girls everywhere. He has remained rather elusive since the series ended years ago but has resurfaced with the news of the spin-off. Fans, however, remained hopeful that he would be a part of this latest series.
Fishel and Savage have both confirmed that they will return and portray their beloved characters Cory and Topanga. They have both expressed their excitement to reunite and develop new stories for the family audience. It's a feeling shared by Strong, who said this project "will be about Cory and Topanga, their daughter, and a new set of charactersn… And I, for one, can't wait to see it evolve."
"GMW" will follow the Matthews clan as they raise daughter Riley and help her through her teen years, much as "BMW" followed a young Cory. The show lasted seven years and led to successful careers for Savage and Fishel.
"Those years were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn't trade them for the world," Fishel posted on her blog.
Now a new generation will be exposed to the characters and storylines that still hold a place in the hearts of fans.
