Samsung Galaxy S2 Release Date: AT&T Customers Express Anger at Delay

The postponed release of the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone on AT&T has led to disgruntled customers expressing their frustration with the network.

The AT&T powered Galaxy S2 was scheduled to release on September 18, but the company decided to postpone its release for unknown reasons. According to the official AT&T website, the Galaxy S2 is now “coming soon.”

An AT&T customer service representative told CP that they have not been given any specifics on when the device would be released.

Several who were expecting to buy the smartphone from AT&T were gravely disappointed that the Galaxy S2, which has been released overseas since May, still has not made its full debut in the U.S. Many have been discussing their frustrations online.

"What a huge disappointment," Betanews reader Luis commented. "I stopped by an AT&T store last night, right before closing time to ask about the phone. The guy had no clue what I was talking about, but did say 'but we do have the new Sony Ericsson you can look at' Really? Come on, AT&T, step your game up!"

Many potential AT&T customers have stated that the majority of AT&T associates they inquired with about the Galaxy S2 were not aware that such a phone even existed.

One Betanews commenter said that the associate he spoke with confused the smartphone for Samsung's tablet computer, the Galaxy Tab, while another said that the associate he spoke with believed the Galaxy S2 would release with AT&T within the next two to three weeks.

Some customers are tired of waiting and have moved on to buy their Galaxy S2 smartphones from Sprint, whose Epic 4G Touch version released on September 16 and has been selling for $199 with a two-year contract.

Others who refuse to move over to the Sprint network continue to wait.

Despite the setback, a Betanews poll of 2,763 people revealed that 75 percent of potential Galaxy S2 customers plan to buy the phone within 3 months while almost 9 percent have decided to buy an iPhone.
