4. FBI will investigate Dobbs leak

In a statement posted to X Monday, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced that the federal government agency will "push additional resources and investigative attention" to determine who was responsible for leaking the draft of the U.S. Supreme Court's Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization 2022 decision indicating that the justices were poised to rule that the U.S. Constitution does not contain a right to abortion.

The leaked draft of the Dobbs decision, which was published by Politico seven weeks before the U.S. Supreme Court released the actual ruling in June 2022, led to a wave of violence and vandalism by pro-abortion activists outraged about the impending ruling targeting churches and pro-life pregnancy centers. Three years later, the perpetrator behind the leak remains at large.

The U.S. Supreme Court conducted its own investigation in an attempt to find the leaker, with the Marshal of the Supreme Court holding interviews with about 100 employees and examining forensic evidence. The Marshal determined that "no further investigation was warranted with respect to many of the 82 employees [who] had access to electronic or hard copies of the draft opinion."
