Twilight 'Breaking Dawn' Soundtrack Explained by Director

“Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1” has an impressive soundtrack accompanying it, which director Bill Condon says has many callbacks to earlier installments.

The fourth installment film in the “Twilight Saga” will see main characters Bella and Edward at their wedding ceremony. The films have a massive following, and were derived from author Stephenie Meyer’s book series. Selecting the soundtrack for the two-part finale of the saga was an important task for Condon.

“I always thought of this movie as the bookend to the first movie,” said Condon speaking to MTV News. “Twilight” fans will recognize one of the 19 tracks on the album as Iron &Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version)” from the original “Twilight” film.

Condon’s decision to include the track again “felt right.”

“That [song] was such a great powerful, romantic song for those characters. It just felt right to kind of refer back to it at this important moment,” Condon explained of the upcoming album.

The director added that several other musical references to previous “Twilight” films found in “Breaking Dawn, Part 1.”

“[There are] quite a few, musically I would say at the wedding there’s a jazz quartet that plays a couple of tracks from ‘Eclipse.’ Carter Burwell has come back to do the score. He did the first movie, so ‘Bella’s Lullaby’ features in this movie too…” the director divulged.

Condone did not give any details about the greatly anticipated wedding scene in the film, leaving fans to wonder when they will hear the music during the viewing.

The album is available for preorder on iTunes, and hits stores Tuesday, Nov. 8.

The awaited film “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1” premieres Nov. 18 and will see stars Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson reprise their roles as Bella and Edward.

MTV will speak to Stewart, Pattinson, and star Taylor Lautner Thursday at 7:56 p.m. EST where the actors will discuss the film. Also Thursday MTV.com will feature a "question and answer" session with the “Twilight” superstars.
