CM Punk WWE Return Tonight in Chicago? Former Champ Could Battle at Wrestlemania XXX

Will World Wrestling Entertainment fans finally get their wish if CM Punk returns tonight during Monday Night "Raw"? The odds are favorable that the fan-favorite will make a return appearance in time for Wrestlemania XXX during the show in his hometown of Chicago, Ill.

Multiple sources have theorized that if Punk is to make a return to the ring, which, given the fans' demand and enthusiasm for a return, it would be so in his hometown. Punk has not appeared on any WWE program since "Raw" following the Royal Rumble on Jan. 27. Fans have been continually chanting his name during headline matches, showing their want and support for Punk's return.

"He's taking a sabbatical," WWE CEO Vince McMahon told investors during a conference call on Feb. 20, "let's just put it that way."

Punk was reportedly upset that he was not getting into title matches and felt disrespected and underappreciated by the authorities at WWE. After months of frustration, Punk announced that he was leaving, causing the WWE universe to explode and demand his return. Now it seems that the universe may get what it wants.

Even WWE figures are weighing in on the likelihood of a Punk return.

Commentator Jim Ross tweeted that he put the odds of Punk returning tonight at "55/45 he'll be there."

Should Punk return, it will be assumed that he will take part in historic Wrestlemania XXX in April. It remains to be seen whether he will get his long-awaited match against Triple H or actually be placed in the title match against Batista and Randy Orton. Fans have not been pleased with either Orton or Batista's behavior lately and seem to want someone else to take the title. Whether that is another fan favorite, such as Daniel Bryan, is up to WWE officials.

However one looks at it, though, Punk's return is certainly "what's best for business."
