Michelle Duggar New Look: Mom Gets Makeover

"19 Kids & Counting" matriarch Michelle Duggar has undergone a makeover for her 46th birthday this year, making waves online.

The family from Arkansas became famous through TLC's reality series about them. Jim Bob and Michelle as well as their 19 children are beloved staples on the network, and continue to spark the interest of online readers.

During the makeover episode, Michelle invited her childhood friend Cindy over to help her find a new look.

Among the changes made to Michelle's appearance, the mother of 19 cut eight inches of her hair off and temporarily straightened her ordinarily curly hair.

While her children approved of the changes, Michelle and her husband Jim Bob expressed doubt.

"I do like it longer," Jim Bob said of his wife's shortened hair.

Michelle said of her sleek hair and cut: "This is what I look like when I get out of the shower!"

New episodes of "19 Kids & Counting" air on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on TLC.

The makeover comes during an unusually quiet time for such a large family. Michelle and Jim Bob share children Joshua, 23 (who is married to Anna, 23, and has two children); twins Jana and David-John, 21; Jill, 20; Jessa, 19; Jinger, 17; Joseph, 16; Josiah, 15; Joy-Anna, 14; twins Jedidiah and Jeremiah, 12; Jason, 11; James, 10; Justin, 8; Jackson, 7; Johanna, 6; Jennifer, 4; and Jordyn, 3, and Josie; 2.

Last year, the Duggar family suffered a great loss when Michelle miscarried her 20th child, daughter Jubilee. Despite their hardship, the large family continues to brighten screens through their reality series.

A deeply religious family, Michelle and Jim Bob do not believe in birth control and said earlier this year that they are thinking about having more children.

While on the "Today Show," Michelle answered that she and her family did not have any big news to share.

"Not that I know of," said the famous mother. "We would love to, but we don't today."
