Kanye West Upset With Grammy Nominations

Kanye West is not happy with his Grammy nominations.

West, the 36-year-old rap mogul, was nominated for Best Rap Album for his album Yeezus and Best Rap Song for his song "New Slaves." However, the rap mogul insisted that he deserved more than the two nominations.

While embarking on his Yeezus tour in Phoenix, the outspoken rapper sounded off on his nominations. West insisted that his race had something to do with his nominations.

"I'm 36-years-old and I have 21 Grammys. That's the most Grammys of any 36-year-old," West told his audience. "Out of all those 21 Grammys, I've never won a Grammy against a white artist. Now let's bring it back to the Michael Jackson days when he couldn't get his video to be played because he was 'urban.'"

West was not nominated for album of the year and questioned what message the Grammys were trying to convey.

"And Yeezus is the top one or two album on every single list," he said at Phoenix's US Airways Center. "But only gets two nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to say?"

The rapper went on to insinuate that his influence could affect the credibility of the Grammys.

"Did they think that I wouldn't notice," West questioned. "Do they think that, someway, I don't have the power to completely diminish all of their credibility at this moment?"

West has not shied away from speaking about his genius and impact in the past and admitted that people do not approve of it.

"People get mad at me saying that I am a creative genius, but it's just obvious. It's, like, factual," West told Philadelphia radio station Hot 107.9. "I would write creative genius when I go through the airport ... I would put that on customs [forms], where you put what your title is, except for two reasons: it takes too long to write and sometimes I spell the word genius wrong."
