Kim Kardashian Divorce: Kardashian's Divorce Lawyer Says Marriage Was Real

Kim Kardashian's divorce lawyer came forward to defend her client, and said the star’s marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries was not a sham.

Kardashian filed for divorce from Humphries on Oct. 31, citing irreconcilable differences, after just 72 days of marriage.

Since the news of the divorce broke, some speculated the marriage and multimillion dollar wedding was a publicity stunt.

Celebrity lawyer Laura Wasser handled Kardashian's divorce as well as her prenuptial agreement and said she does not think it is possible the marriage was fake.

"Our office did indeed negotiate and prepare a prenup for Ms. Kardashian. Given what I know regarding that document, it is not plausible that this marriage was a sham," said Wasser to TMZ.

Wasser also said the prenuptial talks were "prolonged" and that the couple had their finances covered for the future in the deal.

A source close to Kardashian told TMZ: "Why on earth would they [Kim, Kris and their lawyers] create a document which looks far into the future if they planned a marriage that would only last a few months?"

The source also said the prenuptial agreement was a long 30 pages.

Last week, Kardashian's former publicist, Jonathan Jaxson, claimed the reality television star never emotionally got over ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush. Jaxson also said he would cook up publicity stunts for Kardashian.

"I staged several of the moments that the world has seen of her, such as a ring that we alleged was from Reggie Bush," said Jaxson.

Kardashian and Humphries married last August in one of the biggest celebrity events of the year.

The ceremony had 450 guests, including singer Ciara, tennis star Serena Williams and actress Lindsay Lohan. Kardashian’s sisters Kourtney and Khloe were bridesmaids at the event, which Khloe called "perfect."

Kardashian and her family also insist the wedding and marriage was real.
